About Our Farm

Mountain Bounty Farm is a 10-acre family farm located high on the forested contours of the San Juan Ridge near Nevada City, CA. Through careful management, we achieve surprising yields of exceptional quality produce, including many heritage breeds. 2010 is our 13th season. John, Angie, and our crew of interns are passionate about farming, cooking and eating good food. We are committed to creating a bountiful, diverse, and delicious harvest to share with our CSA members. Visitors and farm tours are welcome, please call ahead to schedule your visit.

Weekly vegetable and fruit boxes available year-round through our CSA subscription program. Winter season boxes come from our partner farm near Davis. Over the past 13 years we have become known for the exceptional quality, diversity, and generosity of our produce boxes. Heirloom vegetables, fruits (apricots, apples, cherries, nectarines, peaches, pears, plums,
table grapes, berries) and herbs.


 




Our Vegetable Shares

Receive a generous variety of our finest produce year round, delivered weekly to five locations around Nevada County for only $23 per week ($26 in Truckee). Each week's delivery yields its own unique harvest, picked fresh that day. We put tremendous care and skill into growing superb produce for you, including over 250 varieties of vegetables and herbs plus some absolutely luscious melons. On average you will receive enough produce to fill a large grocery bag full of your favorite staple veggies, plus a healthy portion of the exotic and unusual. We also provide a weekly newsletter with recipes, nutritional information, and farm news.

Our Fruit Shares

Several local farms make up the weekly summer fruit share. The fruit shares 2/3-1 flat per week and vary with the season. We strive to provide you with the best local, certified organic, tree-ripened fruit, fruit with real flavor and character. This is fruit you will rarely, if ever, find in the store. In the winter, we partner with Chaffin Family Orchards in Oroville where a unique microclimate allows them to ripen citrus on the tree until harvest, without freezing. Citrus shares average 10# of juicy, delicious citrus per week.

Our Flower Shares

Each share will receive one large bouquet for your home or business, delivered to the pickup site of your choice. The Flower Project is owned and operated by Angie Tomey, fellow Mountain Bounty Farmer. She has been growing flowers commercially for over 10 years and prides herself in growing the best quality, most beautiful cut flowers available. From sweet peas and snapdragons in the spring to lillies, sunflowers and zinnias- enjoy fresh seasonal arrangements every week.

CSA SUBSCRIPTIONS: Delivered to pick-up locations in Nevada City, Grass Valley, Truckee and the San Juan Ridge.

FARMERS MARKETS: Saturday morning in Nevada City.
