Nevada County Grown is pleased to announce what we see as the
Inaugural Year for The Sustainable Local Food and Farm Conference.

This is not going to be a day of dry lecture on how far apart to plant your rows, or what's the best vaccine for your livestock - far from it!!!  We feel we have assembled several of the most knowledgeable, most dynamic, and highly energetic speakers in the country on the subject of sustainable agriculture and the importance of nutrient dense foods as a dietary necessity.

Whether you are currently farming, want to start, or want to learn more about why healthy, locally grown food is so important to an individual's diet, this high impact day of sustainable farming frivolity will have plenty for everyone, yet leave you eager to learn more.

We want you to be a part of this event.  That's why we are offering two lecture series, All Conference Passes, an Indoor Expo open to the public all day, locally grown meal options, and hotel room packages.  Meet the speakers, area farmers and support services; make new friends, and see just how exciting and important growing and supporting local agriculture really is to a vibrant community.

The keynote speaker for the event is Joel Salatin, owner of Polyface Farms in Swoope, Virginia.  Mr. Salatin will give two lectures and participate in a panel discussion at the end of the second lecture series. Other speakers include Dr. Will Winter, DVM, Founder of the Holistic Livestock Association, author and lecturer on sustainable agriculture; Mark McAfee, the founder and President of Organic Pastures Dairy; and Aaron Lucich, creator of the documentary ‘We Are What We Eat’.

The Food and Farm Expo will be open to the public from 10:30am - 5:30pm. Local farmers, agricultural. support services, and active members of our farming community will have booths available to showcase themselves to attendees and the public.

Pre-conference Free Family Lecture on getting your kids to eat healthy food, from 9:30am - 10:30am.
